WWII Veterans – the B-17

The Flying Fortress: B-17

Over the weekend of May 20th – 22nd, 2016, we had the chance to visit with some Veterans and a very special organization from Texas. There are apparently only ELEVEN flying B-1 bombers left in the world today. We took the time to change our weekend plans to visit the Texas Raiders B-17 Flying Fortress. Her crew is amazing and friendly, not to mention dedicated. This is a once in a lifetime chance to experience a small piece of history.

It’s also a chance to meet Veterans who served

throughout history through the ages and brought us to our stance in freedom today. I never really appreciated nor did I particularly enjoy history as a child student nor as a college student. No one was ever able to make it personal or to create that personal connection. Here it is! That personal connection that makes history a wondrous adventure.

Check out the online gallery for a better view of our experience…or contact the Texas Raiders and find out when and where YOU can visit them. You can also find them on Facebook.

Thank You to those that have served throughout time!

Thank You to the Texas Raiders who keep history alive! 🙂
