Spring Time Wonders

Spring time brings out the volunteers in our community as well as the first responders. Let’s support our community and make our neighborhoods a better place to live.

Spring brings new life in so many ways. The plant life are blooming. The weather is nice enough to be outdoors more regularly. April showers bring May flowers…and fires keep fire fighters on their toes… storms keep the storm chasers busy so we stay informed.  While that sounds like positive to negative, it is just truth. Our Emergency management organizations and public servants for city and county alike are very busy this time of year also. How does this relate to photography?

I do event photography as well. I am hoping that YOU will join the Wagoner County Emergency Management team this SATURDAY–March 25th for the Expo they are hosting at Coweta Intermediate High School.

Presidents and Lovers 2017

February 2017 is a wonderful month.

This is the month of presidents and lovers. Now before you go looking for a political post, or a scandalous post regarding some other topic, remember this is a photography blog.images-for-valentine-day I am talking of President’s Day, Washington’s birthday, Lincoln’s birthday and Valentine’s Day…. what were you thinking?

February brings these dates YOU might be interested in:

February 4th & 5th: Always Potterhead’s Festival which takes place in Oklahoma City’s Farmers’ Market. Tickets are a must! Visit from 9am to 7pm each day. Have fun! Muggles welcome! If you are a Potterhead…and would like a Wizard Worldly Portrait session-Contact US NOW! We would LOVE to do a shoot with YOU! (Hogwarts, House shoot-Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Griffindor, Slytherin, Steam Engine settings, Platform 9 3/4 ….) This session would be either on location or in studio in Broken Arrow–NOT Oklahoma City unless you choose OK City as your “on location” site.

February 10th: Batman Lego Movie opens in theaters all over town. So Who is up for a Gotham Nights Photo Session?? All through the month of February, book a session to shoot a “Gotham Nights” session. Batman has been a big craze for a while now. No matter which version of the Dark Knight you love, let’s have some photo session fun!!

February 12th: President Lincoln’s birthday.

February 14th: Valentine’s Day… the day to celebrate the ONE(s) YOU love! Now why did I say “ONE(s)”….. well, the word “love” has several levels to it. In some language the word is represented by different words depending on what kind of love you are referring to. You love your family (Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, sisters, brothers, cousins). You love your Husband, Wife, Girlfriend, Boyfriend. You love your friends….but not all in the same sense. Those of us here in the U.S. or the english speaking areas usually only know ONE name for that feeling and it’s “LOVE”. So when I say “ONE(s)”, I am talking about any person that may be close to you…NOT just your significant someone. This is the perfect time to get together with that significant someone or with someone dear to your heart because of who they are as a person…and create a memory that represents a celebration of your relationship. What better way to show how special they are to YOU.

February 20th: President’s Day The day set aside to celebrate our presidents.

February 22nd: George Washington’s birthday.

Not everyone celebrates the same day in the same way. However you wish to celebrate the calendar of events this month, let us help you. Book a session NOW!

Tea Time Traditions

Tea Time Traditions are many.

Tea has a history in America dating back to the colonies when the Boston Tea Party took place. While I would love to shoot a re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party, I am actually offering a different setting that has actually become a quaint childhood right of passage for many young ladies through time.

Curious yet? I am actually talking of Tea  Time picnics in the garden or the backyard…or where ever your heart takes you on an adventure. Imagination IS the limitOne special young lady and I had Tea Time with Teddy by the pond.  She became princess for the day with tarts and cake and teddy by the “lake.”

Teddy Bear PicNic
Tea Time with Teddy.

Picnics are special for every young girl from the age of three to at least the age of seven…some hang on to the tradition a lot longer {like the child in all of us~Adventures are grand things no matter our age or status in life}. Throughout September and October, we would love to shoot a “Tea Time Picnic” with you or your princess (or prince)–or let’s make it a Family Picnic! There are many tea time options for every imaginative person reading this. Take a look:

  • Tea Time with Teddy (1 or more–up to 6)
  • Tea with Mommy and Me
  • Tea Time Princess with (Daddy) the King
  • Mad Hatter Tea Party (group of 2 to 8) … “Who Are You?” …{Alice, the Mad Hatter, Door Mouse, March Hare, Red Queen, White Queen, Tweedle Dee/Dum, the Cheshire Cat, a Cards-men, Absolum-the caterpillar?}…
  • Tea Time with Your Lovely Lady (couples)
  • Tea Time with Friends (group of 2 to 8) …friends can be your group of gal pals, gals & guys, a child and their doll collection (American Dolls ~for example)
**all adventures may be shot on location or in studio…
each setting and adventure is unique to you and your party.

Let’s have a Party!

Tea Parties are amazing times full of imagination. One of the many adventures that fit one individual or one amazing group of friends. What kind of Tea Party would YOU like to have? Let’s Plan an Adventure!! Follow a white rabbit to Wonderland OR find your fellow at the water’s edge at sunset… OR find your fair Lady on the lawn sipping tea and nibbling cakes… Adventure awaits YOU! What are YOU waiting for?? Contact us TODAY to set up YOUR adventure!

WWII Veterans – the B-17

The Flying Fortress: B-17

Over the weekend of May 20th – 22nd, 2016, we had the chance to visit with some Veterans and a very special organization from Texas. There are apparently only ELEVEN flying B-1 bombers left in the world today. We took the time to change our weekend plans to visit the Texas Raiders B-17 Flying Fortress. Her crew is amazing and friendly, not to mention dedicated. This is a once in a lifetime chance to experience a small piece of history.

It’s also a chance to meet Veterans who served

throughout history through the ages and brought us to our stance in freedom today. I never really appreciated nor did I particularly enjoy history as a child student nor as a college student. No one was ever able to make it personal or to create that personal connection. Here it is! That personal connection that makes history a wondrous adventure.

Check out the online gallery for a better view of our experience…or contact the Texas Raiders and find out when and where YOU can visit them. You can also find them on Facebook.

Thank You to those that have served throughout time!

Thank You to the Texas Raiders who keep history alive! 🙂

Specials: the Day for Mothers

I know. Every day is special for mothers when you are a Mom. Moms deserve to be celebrated daily…but sometimes we take every day people for granted. Moms are special. Moms are the ones who are there for you from the first moment of your life up until the very last day of hers…No one can be what your mom is to you. Take the day to celebrate HER…in 2016…and include her Mom… Check it out!

Generation Portraits

are a wonderful gift for mother’s day.

What is that you ask? Well I posted a blog on that earlier but here’s a refresher: “Generation Portraits” are special portraits that include usually three or more family members from three or more generations. For example: my mother, myself and my daughter in one portrait together would be a “generation portrait” showcasing three generations of women in our family.

Generation-collage-02HartzellWomen-5gens-plain-logo-smThis is a generation portrait. What are the numbers for? The first lady in this portrait passed away some time ago. The photo of her was taken in 1973. Her daughter next to her passed away a few years later and her photo shown here was taken in 1983.  A photo of the matriarchal line to share with future generations was desired.  I put my artistic skills to work with the materials in possession. Here is that result. A generation portrait showing the women who have been key influences in someone’s life and of whom they are a direct descendant. Now…that special offer I mentioned…From Now (April 12th, 2016) through May 2nd, 2016–> Misha’s Photography & Restoration is  offering this style of generation portraits to YOU! May 2nd will be the LAST day for sessions to be done. Mother’s Day is May 8th, 2016.
IF you are interested in YOUR OWN generations portrait, please visit our contact page and make an appointment OR request a special order. Here’s how!

Event: King Author’s Court

April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of 2016 marked the 40th annual medieval fair for Norman, Oklahoma. It’s free to attend this medieval fair and a great way to kick off the fair season in the midwest. We haNormanMedievalFairA-2016.jpgd a wonderful time. We met up with Frank Kieth and his wonderful sculptures. We saw Michelle and her lovely assortment of corsetry! We saw many, many vendors and some wonderful shows as well.

This fair is great for interacting with characters, people watching and even pet watching! We saw dogs of all shapes and sizes and even some in costume! There was also a bearded dragon and some Birds of Prey!
The live action chess game was absolutely wonderful!NormanMedievalFairB-2016.jpg Have you ever seen such a thing? Fear not! if by some misbegotten chance you missed Norman’s lovely fair and shopping opportunity, you can visit the Castle of Muskogee in May. They also have a live action chess match… though you won’t see King Author or Queen Guinevere. Though you could chance to catch a live action chess match and a mermaid grotto…

King Author’s court at Norman was a lovely day and the weather was altogether grand for the celebration. The food is wonderful and of great variety…and the people are many!

To catch your eye and the scope of possibilities for next year in Norman, check out our gallery of this saturday’s meanderings. See you in Muskogee!

Events: Emergency Preparedness Expo

We visited the Emergency Preparedness Expo this past Saturday (March 26th). Have you heard of it? Tis the season–tornado season — when emergency responders in Oklahoma are kept very busy. Between tornadoes, fires, and floods, spring creates LOTS of work for these crews and the volunteers involved.

It was a beautiful day to be outside. I know a lot of the families were out doing community Easter Egg Hunts–such fun for the kids…but there was a nice turn out at the Expo too. We had many of our Fire Departments compete in a “Fire Fighter’s Challenge” event to show YOU what they are trained for in a more fun and entertaining environment. EVENTS-FireFighterChallenge-collage2016BLOG-sm(Rolling Hills, Oak Grove, Wagoner Fire Department, Flat Rock, White Horn, Coweta Fire Department). These kinds  of events are great for you to get to know those who serve your community and for them to get to know you as well. Events like the Emergency Preparedness Expo also give you valuable information should you ever find yourself in need of it.

Do you know what to do or who is involved in emergency situations? Well anyone who is, could be, might be were there at the Expo on Saturday. We enjoyed seeing the Air EVENTS-EmrgncyPrepEXPO2-collage2016BLOGsmEvac Lifeteam land their helicopter at the event. Saturday’s Air Evac team was from Muskogee. THANK YOU for being their Saturday! This is always great fun for the kids as they get to see the inside of a helicopter and even sit inside if they wish… The Air Evac Lifeteam is also on hand for questions and one on one interaction. Fun and Education all at the same time! Imagine.

On top of that we also enjoyed watching the canine rescue teams demonstrate their techniques. The rescue dogs are a joy beyond measure to watch and seemed to enjoy showing off their skills also! Emergency Management was there with literature and a trophy for the winners of the Fire Fighter Challenge. The trophy will travel to each winning station year after year! So be sure to come out next year to support your local station!

EVENTS-EmrgncyPrepEXPO-collage2016BLOG-smWe visited with the Broken Arrow Police Department and got to check out their “Share the Road” program which is about motor cycle safety awareness. Many Police departments all over Wagoner County attended the Expo. The DAV had a mobile unit set up as well as the Oklahoma Blood Institute and the American Red Cross. Water Safety was also there. Storm Shelter companies like Atlas Safe Rooms were there. If you haven’t seen them, you can find them at Woodland Hills Mall now. The County Sheriff was in attendance as was AEP. It was a great time to wander and ask questions and learn about emergencies when there isn’t one in progress. Often times we don’t bother until it is needed and then we miss a lot of necessary information. I am hoping next year is bigger and better! Check out our photo gallery of the event! Coweta American was there and also has a gallery. I am sure that we didn’t catch everything there so Check out the Chamber and the Newspaper. Visit the links and the facebook pages. This is an annual event so please, check out the companies here and bookmark their links. Visit and support them as part of your community. Keep in touch and visit the Expo in 2017!

Welcome 2016

Check out our year in review of 2015.

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2016…Good-bye to 2015. With photos, there really isn’t a “good-bye.” Photos help you remember and share all those FUN times as many times as you wish to relive the moment (or share it with as many friends and family members as possible).

Let me share with you the best memories from Misha’s Photography & Restoration of 2015. This includes events, portraits, etc. I want to say Thank You to all who purchased event photos, to all those wonderful people who had portraits done, and to those who revisit us every year for MORE photographic adventures.

Best of 2015-MPR-RHFD

Rolling Hills Fire Department (RHFD) is a wonderful group of men and women who devote A LOT of time to their community. It is a great opportunity to help them by photographing some of their community events since 2012. Thank You RHFD for all that YOU DO!  🙂

Best of 2015-MPR-BA Orchestra-logo

Here is a look at some of the Orchestra concerts for Broken Arrow High School. This includes Freshman Academy. I try to shoot at least one photo of every teen on stage. The display here is just the panoramic view of the entire stage area for each orchestra category.

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF Characters-NOTcast-LOGO

This is a display of some of the visitors at Oklahoma Renaissance Festival from May of 2015. These are NOT the Castle’s “best of” choices. These are the best choices within Misha’s Photograph & Restoration. Visiting the Castle of Muskogee each season has been very enjoyable. I adore people and photography. This community event is a great time to have fun with a camera and capture a variety of adventures.

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF Pirates

Best of Pirates. This display is mostly Acts that you will see at the Castle. Pictured above are members of “the Jolly Rogers” and members of “the Musical Blades” with a couple of extras peeking in for a visit. For more information on these pirate groups, check them out on Facebook: The Jolly Rogers and Musical Blades.

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF Comedy

Angus is an all time favorite. OKRF would not be OKRF without this wonderful Scotsman stopping visitors and passers by through Angus Land. The Brothers Dimm has always been a favored stop on Mother’s Day and what would fair be without a Tribal Circus and the Jester Rejects? These are by no means the only comedies available at OKRF. I did not make as many shows as planned so please, check it out this coming May in 2016 and Maybe I’ll see you there (or here in next year’s “best of” post).

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF

Here’s is one more OKRF display…wonderful things to see at the Castle: The Mermaid Grotto, the Memorial Day Parade (a tribute to Veterans); The Joust; Dancing; and much, much more!

Weddings are always a favorite. People starting out on a brand new life-long adventure. Those are Memories we all want to keep and re-share over and over and over throughout time.Best of 2015-MPR-WED

Weddings are wonderful whether they are great day-long or week long events OR just a couple of hours with just a few people. Not one wedding should be without photos to remember and look back on throughout your life together. It’s an adventure like no other!

Thirteen Days of Halloween: FIVE

This session was a lot of fun. Children don’t often have a long attention span before they are school age and sometimes this discourages people to take up projects like this one. Pets tend to have even less of an attention span…depending on the breed and personality.  This young lady is a ball of energy and “Toto” was too. We did have a LOT of fun shooting and my little model loved getting dressed up to go out and play. 😀 Meet “Dorothy and Toto…her little dog too”.

Pet Portraits are fun and can show such unexpected adventure.  That adventure can be seen in your own backyard like Penny’s portrait or on location like Suzie’s portrait! It’s great to see your pet happy and having fun no matter where you are. During the fall, some even have a great time with dressing up their pet for trick or treat night! Does YOUR pet have a costume this year? What are you waiting for?? Let’s get together and have some FUN!
