Happy New Year!

Welcome 2016…Good-bye to 2015. With photos, there really isn’t a “good-bye.” Photos help you remember and share all those FUN times as many times as you wish to relive the moment (or share it with as many friends and family members as possible).

Let me share with you the best memories from Misha’s Photography & Restoration of 2015. This includes events, portraits, etc. I want to say Thank You to all who purchased event photos, to all those wonderful people who had portraits done, and to those who revisit us every year for MORE photographic adventures.

Best of 2015-MPR-RHFD

Rolling Hills Fire Department (RHFD) is a wonderful group of men and women who devote A LOT of time to their community. It is a great opportunity to help them by photographing some of their community events since 2012. Thank You RHFD for all that YOU DO!  🙂

Here is a look at some of the Orchestra concerts for Broken Arrow High School. This includes Freshman Academy. I try to shoot at least one photo of every teen on stage. The display here is just the panoramic view of the entire stage area for each orchestra category.

This is a display of some of the visitors at Oklahoma Renaissance Festival from May of 2015. These are NOT the Castle’s “best of” choices. These are the best choices within Misha’s Photograph & Restoration. Visiting the Castle of Muskogee each season has been very enjoyable. I adore people and photography. This community event is a great time to have fun with a camera and capture a variety of adventures.

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF Pirates

Best of Pirates. This display is mostly Acts that you will see at the Castle. Pictured above are members of “the Jolly Rogers” and members of “the Musical Blades” with a couple of extras peeking in for a visit. For more information on these pirate groups, check them out on Facebook: The Jolly Rogers and Musical Blades.

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF Comedy

Angus is an all time favorite. OKRF would not be OKRF without this wonderful Scotsman stopping visitors and passers by through Angus Land. The Brothers Dimm has always been a favored stop on Mother’s Day and what would fair be without a Tribal Circus and the Jester Rejects? These are by no means the only comedies available at OKRF. I did not make as many shows as planned so please, check it out this coming May in 2016 and Maybe I’ll see you there (or here in next year’s “best of” post).

Best of 2015-MPR-OKRF

Here’s is one more OKRF display…wonderful things to see at the Castle: The Mermaid Grotto, the Memorial Day Parade (a tribute to Veterans); The Joust; Dancing; and much, much more!

Weddings are always a favorite. People starting out on a brand new life-long adventure. Those are Memories we all want to keep and re-share over and over and over throughout time.Best of 2015-MPR-WED

Weddings are wonderful whether they are great day-long or week long events OR just a couple of hours with just a few people. Not one wedding should be without photos to remember and look back on throughout your life together. It’s an adventure like no other!

Best of 2015-MPR-Portraits

Mother’s Day 2015

Mother’s Day 2015:

How did YOU spend Mother’s Day? It has become almost a tradition for my Mother and my Daughter to spend the day at OKRF on Mother’s Day. Three generations together at Fair. A great time enjoyed by all.

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day at the Castle has it’s favorites….there are always “must see” acts. While we enjoy OKRF, we do have our favorites. The Jolly Rogers, The Brothers Dimm (also known as the Mud Men), Karma Dogma Show, and usually the birds of Prey show…however we missed that one. Royal Gauntlet used to do the show and now it is Knight Wing. We visited the Italian quarter and saw Tribal Circus. We tried Wulgamut but the echo inside the cave made it too loud to enjoy so we weren’t able to stay long. This doesn’t affect everyone and they are worth the listen…if the cave gets to you then catch them at pub-sing at the crown inn towards the end of the day.

If you got the chance to spend the day with your Mom…then you had a very special day indeed. IF you did not, don’t think you missed out. Make a date and spend the day with her any day! Mother’s day can be any day regardless of your calendar. Mothers are special and any day is a great day to spend with MOM. ❤

Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the Moms out there…and God Bless each and every one of YOU!

You do remember this is the realm of Castleton, right?

Walk past the pirate stage and BAGS shop into the realm of faeires and mermaids and make believe. You may even see Peter Pan and Wendy. (think “other realm”…it does require some mischief and a little imagination but I think you can manage those)…

Sirens of the Deep at OKRF

Sirens of the Deep…

Ladies of the Deep
Ladies of the Deep

Sirena: The Sirens …

The Sirens….

Ladies of the sea with voices to sooth, entrance, and capture the hearts and souls of men throughout eternity…. This is what I think of when I hear the word “siren”. Siren encompasses so much more depth and feeling than “mermaids”…and I don’t think all mermaids can sing.Castle Plunder and Pilage weekend 2014

Most people hear the word “siren” and think song, mermaid, sea, mythology. I saw a stage act at the Renaissance Fair at the Castle of Muskogee this May. Sirena. These three lovely Ladies embody the word “Siren.”

All three are beautifully enchanting in voice, appearance, and personality. Their music….to die for! It is captivating, hauntingly beautiful, and full of soulful passion. It sounds tribal with the drums (played by the Sirens as they sing AND dance!). It makes me long for the ocean waves crashing against the rocks…I would say crashing against the hull of a huge 10309735_751542471533919_2614705823734075108_npirate ship…but I must confess that I do not know what that actually sounds like outside of the movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean.” However it does pick me up and carry me away to another time and place where mythology lives along with goddesses of the song and sea known as sirens… loved and feared by seafaring men worldwide and throughout time.

If you are fully curious and would like to know more about these Ladies of the Deep our modern day sirens: “Sirena”… please allow me to point you in a few different but well traveled paths of knowledge.

Sirena was on the cover of a renaissance magazine during the month of May in 2014-seen on a news stand coming out of Reasor’s….yet I have been unable to find the cover or the magazine since.

Theses ladies have Festival awards for “Best Music group” and “Best new cd”….They will enchant you. Aglaope (Amanda Ellis), Legeia (Tegan Elliott) and Raidne (Sam Nolte) are Sirena – sirens to love and enjoy while they sing to your very soul, should you dare to listen!

A couple of the influences on their music and style are Enya and Stomp… new age and celtic… with a touch of soul.

The Castle of Muskogee was alive with the invigorating music of the Sirens…. “Sirena” during the two weekends they were performing at the Castle on the Harbor stage. These beautiful and enchanting young women have voices that make their music come alive and are down to earth as well. It was wonderful to get the chance to see them at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival.

As mentioned above, here are some other places to gain knowledge of these enchanting sirens of the new millennia. They have an official website. The trio has been together for about two or three years and have two cd’s out at the moment. You can shop for Sirena here to obtain your own memorabilia of “Sirena”. They are also found on Amazon.com with two available downloads. Their facebook.com site is a fun way to see photos of these lovely ladies at some of the past fairs at which they have performed.

Album Cover (NOT by Misha’s Photography) but a great representation of the enchanted Sirena and a good ad for their album (which I DO own).

And what music group as enchanting as this trio would not be found on youtube.com?

Muskogee’s Castle and Renaissance Festival was said to be a warm welcome to these beautiful Ladies. I know many people (both cast, vendors, and other stage acts as well as patrons at the fair) are hoping they revisit the Castle of Muskogee in May 2015. Look them up and discover some beautifully, soulful music….and the beauties behind it as well.

Best Wishes Sirena!

Sunday, Memorial Day weekend: OKRF

My last day at Oklahoma Renaissance Fair….(sigh).

OKRF was a blast. I hated to miss the special events planned for Memorial Day in honor of our veterans….however, family time is a good time and reason to miss any event. Post comments here about your Memorial Day 2012….

Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day!

OKRF 2012 Muskogee, Oklahoma

Carriage ride for His Majesty's Birds
visit OKRF, take a carriage ride.

What would you expect to see at a ren-faire? They call it Renaissance for a reason. I love the carriage rides. they are a great way to see all of “Castleton” in a short, uninterrupted span of time….did I say uninterrupted?

You might find the occasional band of thieves or pirates stop you….then again, your ride could be a stroll through the kingdom as peaceful as you imagined it to be.

"Cast in Bronze"
Maestro of the Carillon

You can hear the “Carillon” (pronounced care-ill-on) which is a unique sound not heard many places….

Cast in Bronze is perfect for those who love unique music, the sound of bells and other such instrumental music.

The Maestro plays in such a unique wave of movement as to entertain you while you listen…stop in at the Castle of Muskogee and hear it for yourself.

The Brother's Dim
OKRF original adult fairy tale theater like you have never seen it before

The Brothers Dimm is another (all together different and…) unique show. I have seen nothing else like them anywhere. Though I do enjoy a good laugh at every show!

Africa's Barbary Falcon
an almost endangered species

Another unique “MUST SEE” show is the Birds of Prey show at OKRF.  It’s held in the jousting arena twice a day and features a WIDE ARRAY of birds for your enjoyment. Unlike most other educational animal shows, this one features demonstrations that can involve audience participation. That’s part of what makes it great!!! Check out more at the Royal Gauntlet’s blogsite.

There are of course other sites to see throughout Castleton:

Marco, OKRF 2012
OKRF 2012, Marco

Marco…be he pirate or jester…Marco is awesome! you can even play Marco Polo without getting all wet! 🙂

The Queen–have tea with Her Majesty even!

There are Fools (and Jesters), Knights, wenches, Ladies, Faeries, Jousters, and lots of other things you may not have ever imagined! Visit Castleton and check it out for yourself. But be sure to leave a comment or a photo here!

Oklahoma Renaissance Faire: Muskogee Oklahoma

Ren-Faire Season!

It has begun! Or at least it begins this weekend! OKRF is the short version of Oklahoma Renaissance Faire. It is held EVERY May at the Castle of Muskogee located (where else?) in Muskogee, Oklahoma USA.

I love faire season. Muskogee is the closest faire to me so it is the main one I attend. It has a lot to offer whether you are a photographer, people watcher, or just like to get out and have fun!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

If you like to dress up, there are plenty of places to get new costumes or to add to an existing one. I love multi-use pieces and costumes! Halloween is a great time to dig out bits and pieces or the whole costume and be an original! Most people don’t even associate the costume with Renaissance Faires. They just think it’s cool! My favorite is of course Damsel In This Dress! Michelle makes the most awesome outfits.

Check out her shop at OKRF
Check out the coolest corsets at OKRF!

They go great with everything! 😀

People watching and joining in the fun is an awesome time at Oklahoma Ren-Faire too! There are games, shopping, and plenty of entertainment! Check out the castle website for more details…and they are on facebook too where acts and  venders have been featured as a preview!

My favorite acts at OKRF are:

1. Royal Gauntlet birds of prey….this is where I spend most of my time! I can’t get enough! So stop by…you’ll find the show in the jousting arena. Check the programs for times or find a falconer….

2. The Jolly Rogers…..my pirate fix! I love pirates. The Jolly Rogers are a singing pirate group. They sing folk songs and sea chanties. I promise you will laugh!

Come to faire! Then share your experience with comments made HERE!
