Welcome to a long over due post and update from your local Broken Arrow Photographer, Misha. OKRF is in full swing and I had the chance to attend on opening day.

What is OKRF? the OKlahoma Renaissance Fair….and what can you see and do there?

Dragon's Eye....visit B.A.G.S. in the Pirate Cove.

Step into another realm…filled with pirates, fae, and royalty. A joust. A mermaid grotto. Wine. Wenches. Kings. and Queens. Are you curious yet?

Oh and I did mention Pirates right? well what would the other realms be without rebels and rogues to make the scenery interesting and entertaining….

You do remember this is the realm of Castleton, right?

Visit B.A.G.S. across from the Pirate stage.

Walk past the pirate stage and BAGS shop into the realm of faeires and mermaids and make believe. You may even see Peter Pan and Wendy. (think “other realm”…it does require some mischief and a little imagination but I think you can manage those)…

Hear the Sirens’ songs …many a ship has sank due to the siren song….but I think the pirate stage will interest you once you listen…”Sirena” (pictured left) will be taking 2016 off so see them this year at OKRF while you can!

opening day, last joust.... Ye Knights of Ole.
opening day, last joust…. Ye Knights of Ole.

Oh and do NOT forget the Knights of Ole…for a joust is held at castleton and what passersby doesn’t want to see the champion of the day?

What do you think of Castelton and the 20th annual Opening Day of OKRF?

Check back for more! It is my goal to visit castleton once each weekend throughout it’s 20th run. Posted here will be the sights I see….so YOU can enjoy them too! Maybe I’ll even see YOU there. 😀

OKRF 2012 Muskogee, Oklahoma

Carriage ride for His Majesty's Birds
visit OKRF, take a carriage ride.

What would you expect to see at a ren-faire? They call it Renaissance for a reason. I love the carriage rides. they are a great way to see all of “Castleton” in a short, uninterrupted span of time….did I say uninterrupted?

You might find the occasional band of thieves or pirates stop you….then again, your ride could be a stroll through the kingdom as peaceful as you imagined it to be.

"Cast in Bronze"
Maestro of the Carillon

You can hear the “Carillon” (pronounced care-ill-on) which is a unique sound not heard many places….

Cast in Bronze is perfect for those who love unique music, the sound of bells and other such instrumental music.

The Maestro plays in such a unique wave of movement as to entertain you while you listen…stop in at the Castle of Muskogee and hear it for yourself.

The Brother's Dim
OKRF original adult fairy tale theater like you have never seen it before

The Brothers Dimm is another (all together different and…) unique show. I have seen nothing else like them anywhere. Though I do enjoy a good laugh at every show!

Africa's Barbary Falcon
an almost endangered species

Another unique “MUST SEE” show is the Birds of Prey show at OKRF.  It’s held in the jousting arena twice a day and features a WIDE ARRAY of birds for your enjoyment. Unlike most other educational animal shows, this one features demonstrations that can involve audience participation. That’s part of what makes it great!!! Check out more at the Royal Gauntlet’s blogsite.

There are of course other sites to see throughout Castleton:

Marco, OKRF 2012
OKRF 2012, Marco

Marco…be he pirate or jester…Marco is awesome! you can even play Marco Polo without getting all wet! 🙂

The Queen–have tea with Her Majesty even!

There are Fools (and Jesters), Knights, wenches, Ladies, Faeries, Jousters, and lots of other things you may not have ever imagined! Visit Castleton and check it out for yourself. But be sure to leave a comment or a photo here!
