Dancing in the Deep

The Life and Times of the Sea

Dancing with Sharks

Underwater Photography is an as yet unrealized dream…so is becoming a mermaid myself. I have always thought the idea of swimming (or as this beauty and her team put it) “dancing with sharks” would be exhilerating and exciting….and a little terrifying. 🙂

You may ask yourself why I would (as a photographer) post this on my blog. Well… we are all people and have dreams and aspirations even in the professional world. We also have those who inspire us to achieve goals and dreams alike. Well, this wonderful diver/mermaid/ sea beauty is an inspiration for me. As such the work she is under taking and the cause is amazing and should be shared. Her photographer and dive team and behind the scenes crews have made a wonderful and inspiring presentation. I want to share that presentation and inspiration with others. I hope she accomplishes her tasks at hand and can look back and see the inspiration she has been to others on so many levels.

So far this “mermaid’s” dreams have only been accomplished

Mermaid Dreams

through imagination, dreams and technology also known as photoshop. Alot of little girls dream of being a mermaid… or a princess…. or even a ninja warrior. Today those dreams can actually be something real and inspiring. Imagination in people is a wonder all its own. Visit any ren-fair, comicon, or steampunk festival and see for yourself. People have amazing ways in todays times for actually marketing their causes.  Blogs and websites and social media sites have given a way for people all over the world to talk, inspire, entertain, and advertise what is going on in their world. You can use it to shut out the world or embrace a much bigger world than you ever imagined! Life is an adventure! GO live it! 🙂 Enjoy your dreams. Reach for the Moon…even if you miss, you may still land among the stars…and that can be another twist in the road that carries you farther than you ever imagined!

Holiday Portraits: An Easter Celebration

I know you probably read the title of this blog and thought you were going to see a bunch of kids’ portraits for Easter, right? I hope you aren’t disappointed. I wanted to do something a little more original this year. I want to display a portrait of Easter.

Are you wondering what I mean by that? How would you paint (or create) a portrait of Easter? East conjures so many memories and so many meanings….each is different for ever individual person that reads this.

When I think of Easter, I think of the childhood memories with my familly…the new outfit my grandmother had made for me, the Easter basket with candy and toys, the church service that would be taking place that Sunday…and the dinner and egg hunt that would happen after church.

I also think of the symbolism (for me) and this may of course be different for you….we each have our own thoughts, images, and memories that make up what we believe and how we perceive things.

If I was to create a “Portrait of Easter”, I would start with a glorious sunrise filled with birdsongs on a cool but not chilled foggy morning…..though this isn’t  a foggy morning…it is a golden sun:

Add the warm feeling that (for instance) Thomas Kinkaid paintings create or that walk through your favorite park path or special quiet place gives you…. “Remember Me

then add the laughter of children with happy hearts and not a care in the world for anything other than love of the people around them and the moment (which no child ever consciously thinks about)…

add the image of a golden egg (like Jack in the Beanstalk’s treasure when you first heard the story and imagined the scene in your mind)….with Warmth and love surrounding it (instead of the giant)….

Last…but not least, add a guide, friend, someone special to share this image/feeling with…

and NOW You have:
