Holiday Portraits: An Easter Celebration

I know you probably read the title of this blog and thought you were going to see a bunch of kids’ portraits for Easter, right? I hope you aren’t disappointed. I wanted to do something a little more original this year. I want to display a portrait of Easter.

Are you wondering what I mean by that? How would you paint (or create) a portrait of Easter? East conjures so many memories and so many meanings….each is different for ever individual person that reads this.

When I think of Easter, I think of the childhood memories with my familly…the new outfit my grandmother had made for me, the Easter basket with candy and toys, the church service that would be taking place that Sunday…and the dinner and egg hunt that would happen after church.

I also think of the symbolism (for me) and this may of course be different for you….we each have our own thoughts, images, and memories that make up what we believe and how we perceive things.

If I was to create a “Portrait of Easter”, I would start with a glorious sunrise filled with birdsongs on a cool but not chilled foggy morning…..though this isn’t  a foggy morning…it is a golden sun:

Add the warm feeling that (for instance) Thomas Kinkaid paintings create or that walk through your favorite park path or special quiet place gives you…. “Remember Me

then add the laughter of children with happy hearts and not a care in the world for anything other than love of the people around them and the moment (which no child ever consciously thinks about)…

add the image of a golden egg (like Jack in the Beanstalk’s treasure when you first heard the story and imagined the scene in your mind)….with Warmth and love surrounding it (instead of the giant)….

Last…but not least, add a guide, friend, someone special to share this image/feeling with…

and NOW You have:

Mr. & Mrs. Ingram

Congratulations!

Wishing you long life and happiness together always!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Ingram!

May the two of you be a balance to each other in all things….and find happiness in each other for the rest of your lives. Marriage is a wonderful occasion to celebrate.

Thank you for making me part of your union and celebration. I hope the photos will help you share this time in your personal histories for a very long time and with generations to come. Photos capture the treasured memories we all like to share (ok…and some we wish our parents wouldn’t share;)!

Congratulations once again.

Sincerely,

Misha

Valentine–Be Mine!

Every child learns about

Valentine’s Day in school…

You know: it’s that day that you bring cards and candy for everyone in class!

Who doesn’t have a favorite childhood memory of Valentine’s Day and emptying your decorated sack or box of Valentines to see what your friends have given you this time!

Tell that special someone what you think of them!
Someone Special should be told they are special to you.

I hope you enjoy this Valentine’s Day…it’s a great day to let your friends know they are special. We commercialize it and capitalize on the fact that this is THE day that you are suppose to buy that special someone something expensive OR be in the doghouse!  Valentine’s Day is a day of love and appreciation. There are so many special people in our lives that we take for granted every day. Take one day out of the year (other than their birthday) to surprise them and tell them they mean something to you. Life is busy! The tides RUSH in and RUSH right back out. It never stops! Don’t wait. Share the love, the friendship, the memories! today!

Valentine’s Day is Thursday, February 14th, 2013….

take some time to breath… and share it with a friend!

Happy New Year!

Celebration Time!

WE SURVIVED!…Was there truly, ever, any doubt??  How did you celebrate? The year 2012 has been interesting. I have friends that plan on watching “2012” to “celebrate” that the earth is still turning and 2012 was not the end of the world….Personally, I went out to dinner at one of my favorite Pubs with my best and dearest friend and had a cider….it’s always nice to add another memory with someone special….

“The things we have survived….”

That phrase means so many different things to many different people. In the year 2012, what does it mean for you?

The old year is fading and the new year is arriving! Usually that is a celebration that lasts all night. Some believe the way you ring in the new year and spend that first day is a foreshadowing of the year to come and how it will play out. However and whenever you choose to celebrate… have fun, stay safe, and keep your friends close as you make those memories for sharing later. 😀

Happy New Year EVERYONE!

Holidays and Travel

I posted a blog for Easter. Someone else posted a link to their blog post regarding Easter. I found it a very interesting read. If you travel, especially during the holidays, share your posts. Share your experiences. I don’t travel much as of yet. I hope for that to change…but for the moment most of my travels are inside the U.S. borders. I would love to hear how your holidays differ from mine. As a photographer, I am also interested in holiday photos. Here we do portraits of everything, everyone, every holiday, and a lot of events. Pictures help people share their lives and their stories with those who didn’t have the chance or ability to share them in person. Image

This was an annual Easter Egg Hunt taken on Easter Sunday 2012.

Post your holidays….post a picture of your celebrations….share a comment!

Easter and Spring Time

I know Easter has come and gone but Spring and the birth season of nature are still happening. 😀

It’s a great time for photos….whether the photos are portraits, family pictures, senior pictures or a wedding or engagement or just a day at the park, the time is wonderful!
